What is a Swallow?
Have you ever had a conversation with someone and the topic of food came up? I did a few days ago with a friend. We were discussing different types of dishes from around the world when she asked me about Ghanaian cuisine. Specifically, she wanted to know what a swallow was.
For those of you that don't know, In Ghana West Africa, a swallow is typically a type of dumpling dish that you scoop up with your hands. Swallows are served with either stew, soup or sauces. Instead of chewing it, you pinch a portion, dip into your soup and swallow!
An example of very common and delicious swallows are Fufu or Banku. If you ever travel to Ghana or any other West African country and want to try something new, don't be afraid to ask for some swallows!
